Changes in business environment
Due to the changes which have taken place over recent years in the surrounding conditions for companies a proactive, systematic and holistic risk management is now essential so that you can identify the rocks in the stormy seas and navigate around them in good time. An increasingly globalized competition in deregulated markets, a growing complexity and rapid developments in the area of information technology throw up opportunities, but also risks to companies. A growing complexity in corporate processes and new, decentralised company structures, such as through outsourcing for example, have led to a new risk situation for companies. Furthermore companies are more and more exposed to an increasing cost pressure. It is bound to become ever more difficult to assess and analyse the complexity of processes and risks simply with the help of “corporate intuition” and reactive control systems.
Strategic & operational risk management
Risk management in accordance with ISO 31000 not only focuses on the strategic risks in the fields of product, technology, market, customer, but also includes all the downstream risks at an operational management level. ISO 31000 regards risk management as a management task and assesses the organisational context as being equal to the operational process of risk management.
The operational risk management includes the process of systematic and targeted handling of company risks or individual business processes. The aim is to generate not the maximum, but the optimal security for the customer’s decisions and strategies from a business perspective.
